hi,
For the moment I don't have any monitor for my gentoobox 
So, from a laptop (mac OSX), I just log in my gentoo system as root through ssh.
I want to change/add some the USE Flags, and then
| Code: | | emerge system --newuse && emerge world --newuse |

May I ask you something more  well, I often read emerge system --newuse and then again emerge system --newuse and same thing with world emerge world --newuse and emerge world --newuse
So what's the best? emerge system --newuse && emerge world --newuse or emerge system --newuse && emerge system --newuse && emerge world --newuse && emerge world --newuse

So the problem is the Mac OSX laptop just suspend itself, then it just looks like it stops what is running through ssh (sorry for my poor english, i'm not sure if I'm clear).
I mean, when using the laptop, in order it doesn't suspend , everything works just fine, but when it suspends, the (e.g.) emerging looks like it's on pause and if the suspend time lasts a lot, ssh just stops
Is there a way, i can log in through ssh, start emerging, then exit and later just log in again, and see how it's going?

screen
open screen, start your emerge, then detach your screen and logout.
Later on log back in, re-attached your screen, and carry on |
