Just finished emerging the latest mod_php and now apache won't start...
All I get is:

* Starting apache2... [ !! ]
And I don't seem to get anythning in my error log... _________________ Best regards,

I heard that php is not stable for apache2, but can't personally confirm it, because I don't use apache2.
Why don't you start apache manually? Check inside /etc/init.d/apache2 how to do so. It'll probably return the error message.
Good luck,

It seemed that there was a dead pid hanging around blocking... But I didn't see it because of the "no output" debug stuff...
But thanx anyways... _________________ Best regards,

Why not change yourself the script, so that the error stream outputs to stderr? If it works for you make a patch and bug it as an enhancement?
Everyone would appreciate that.

I would if I could. I'm not that much into ebuilds and I don't currently have the time to work on my lack of knowledge - but maybe later... _________________ Best regards,

i've had the same problem. just take a look at /etc/apache2/logs/error_log - there you usually find the cause. mine was that it could not resolve the ip for the servername i provided. for this there are multiple solutions, the easiest is to add the entry to /etc/hosts. |
