what font package do I need to install to get Chinese letters displayed in X.org?

You need to setup scim I think.
Search the forums for it, I remember there was a really good topic explaining everything
you needed to do. |

I don't need Chinese input. I just want to have firefox and other apps being able to display the letters |

enabling cjk and reemergin xorg-x11 did the trick. I can even post those letters into gedit and other programms. only openoffice still displays some empty boxes instead of letters |

As far as I remember, if you wanna input Chinese characters in openoffice, you need to select the Chinese font from the list before you start to input. Otherwise, you can only see empty boxes. |
