I am have a HP LaserJet 6P, using Foomatic + hpijs with PPD, CUPS 1.1.18-r2, shared with Samba.

Printing *works* from Windows clients, but I am getting extra pages. The first page has a single line at the top "%%[ ProductName: ESP Ghostscript ]%%". The second page has the data I wanted to print, looks fine. The third page has two lines at the top "%%[Page: 1]%%" "%%[LastPage]%%". The third page doesn't feed, I have to manually push the button to get the laser printer to spit it out.

Printing a test page from the CUPS HTTP interface works fine, no extra pages.

No errors in /var/log/cups/error_log
Page log shows just one page being printed.

Any ideas??? :?

If your CUPS config is cool, maybe it's your windows network settings. Check your network printer settings in novell or microsoft networks, and see if it has that extra-page problem.

Something funny with the windows client drivers it downloaded from the Samba server.

Removed [print$] from samba setup, removed all printer drivers from the Win2KPro client, deleted printer from list of available printers, stop spooler service, reboot, delete remaining drivers on Windows client, start spooler service, add printer, click OK to dialog "proper drivers not installed on server, do you wish to install local driver", select appropriate printer from driver list, install local drivers.

Moral of the story: just because the drivers are on the server, doesn't mean they aren't to blame..

too bad I had to kill a few trees.. thanks for the help.
