|
|
I've been using my cdrom for a long tme in WinXP, now suddenly it won't recoginze it. I try uninstalling it and it's recognized on the next boot but somehow fails to initialize.. I get this message in device manager..
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I tried disconnecting it and inserting another cdrom drive in its place but I keep getting the exact same error message. Neiher of them ever needed any additional drivers to those that come with Windows. They both come up in the BIOS and I can boot from them but for some reason Win doesn't like them anymore.
Any ideas? |

Go into safe mode, remove your cdrom from the device manager, reset the computer and let windows try to redetect it. _________________ Shoot Pixels Not People

craftyc answerd your question fine. Drackonite posted a workaround that'll let you use your drive, but doesn't get rid of XP ;) |
