Recently I tried to install Gentoo on my new computer (Athlon XP+nForce2+Geforce4) and ran into several problems. I am connecting to the internet via Internet Connection Sharing setup on my notebook with WinMe, because of USB ASUS ADSL Modem (no ethernet connection possible). I tried stage 1 LiveCD (1.4rc2 and Experimental). With 1.4rc2 I could not make the network work. DHCP, manual config, nothing worked. Experimental Stage 1 Live CD cured this problem - DHCP configuration worked with no problems and I was able to get to "emerge sync" command. During the download, every time I got the "hda: lost interrupt", and that was it. I tried to search the forums for some answer, but could not find anything. I started the kernel with "gentoo noacpi" or "gentoo noacpi=yes" but it did not make any difference. Has anyone observed this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks for any answer... |

If there's an option to disable acpi in your bios, you could try that. |
