while compiling a 'gentoo-sources' kernel (after editing it to my liking with 'make menuconfig') , it bombs out with this:
/drivers/hotplug/vmlinuz/-obj.o(.text+0xadd2): In function 'ibmphp_init_devno':
: undefined reference to 'IO_APIC_get_PCI_irq_vector'
make: *** [vmlinuz] Error 1
I have all three USB hubs enabled on kernel level, and have hotplug support also enabled in the kernel. Should I change these to modules?
btw, the last time I installed gentoo on this system (Athlon XP 1700, Via KT266, Geforce 3 Ti200, SB Live! X-Gamer) I did not have this problem. |

Try it, some drivers don't like being embedded into the kernel.
I take it you're using 2.4 kernel? only a google search for that particular undefined reference turned up a few 2.5 kernel problems |

got it... I set the two extra USB Hubs and the hotplug support as modules, and it went fine. How would I get a 2.4.20 kernel through gentoo? 'ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge -s kernel' ? |
