Posted: Thu Sep 01, 2005 3:17 am Post subject: How to enable java on mozilla |
|
|
I have blackdown-jde1.4.1 and blackdown-jre-1.4.1 installed on my box.
Then added following lines in /etc/profile
Code: | #add Blackdown JAVA enviroment
JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/opt/blackdown-jdk-1.4.1
export JAVA_HOME
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
#CLASSPATH=$JAVA_HOME/lib:$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib
export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH
|
Then enable Java in Mozilla->Edit->prerefence....
I was failed find libjavaplugin_oji.so file. instead I find libjavaplugin_jni.so. Is the corresponding file on a sparc version?
java-config doesn't work for me either:
Code: | $>java-config -L
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/java-config", line 14, in ?
from java_config import jc_options
ImportError: No module named java_config |
Any suggestion is welcome!. _________________ Free as in Freedom |

In the jdk is a "plugins" directory. There you'll find the correct file for mozilla |

The plugin is no longer installed by the ebuild for blackdown-jre or blackdown-jdk because of security problems. We're awaiting a new Java release from Blackdown, it's been coming for a long time too. |

So we have to wait untill the new release comes out. Is there a workaround something?
Thanks,

Not for Linux no. There is for Solaris however. As Linux on SPARC is a bit of a "niche of a niche", I'd doubt we'll ever see one as there isn't enough business potential for Sun to support something on their own hardware other than their own OS. |
