I managed to launch a penguin into flight, achieving a top speed of around 216 km/h. Try beating this time and provide a screen shot. It might help to run in windowed mode. |

Go to this site and grab the course called big ass jump....it is a course just design for speed.
Also if you can I would recomend buying the commercial version of TuxRacer, it is even better than the GPL version. |

Actually with the graphical installer it all went fine but..
| Code: |
Tux Racer 1.1
A Sunspire Studios Production (http://www.sunspirestudios.com)
(c) 1999-2000 Jasmin F. Patry
(c) 2001 Sunspire Studios, Inc.
Use of this software is subject to the terms set out in the file
EULA.txt, to which you must have agreed when installing this
software.
%%% tuxracer warning: Failed to set video mode Couldn't find matching GLX visual
*** tuxracer error: Couldn't initialize video: Couldn't find matching GLX visual
(Success)

Although GLX is working fine... I'll google a little bit. _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge

Tux Racer 1.1.1 Linux Patch
This patch fixes the "Couldn't find missing GLX visual" problem for most users. Download it here:
* tuxracer-1.1.1-x86.run (right-click and choose "Save As...") [md5sum]
To install the patch, type "sh tuxracer-1.1.1-x86.run" at a shell prompt in the directory where you downloaded the patch.

I'll try this _________________ Lego my ego, and I'll lego your knowledge

So am I.... I think freeshell.org has been having some problems lately.
It should be back up sooner or later, hopefully sooner. |

For extra fun in the commercial version look in the ~/.tuxracer-v1/options
This should be in there, change it from false to true.
| Code: |
# speed_mode
#
# [EXPERT] This is an "undocumented" gameplay feature.
# If true, then the friction coefficients in the game are
# reduced by 20%, resulting in a substantial increase in speed.
#
set speed_mode false

| I managed to beat my time by one second, but i didn't get a high score because I only picked up 18 herrings. |

This year during high school swimming my friends and I played this games constantly. We mostly played this course.
My high score is here
We managed to get around 1:12.00 for time but it doesn't show up as the high score because we didn't get any herring when we went that fast. |

I couldn't beat your score, but I finally beat mine. 1:19.61 and 38 herrings. I also tried out that big ass jump map. That was fun.
Edit: Right after posting this I beat that score too. Here's the new one. |
