hi,

i just emerged warzone 2100 0.2.2 with the ebuild from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96249

but i get this error when i try to launch the game

Code:
Warning: Using colour depth of 16 instead of 24.
Error: SDL_SetVideoMode failed (Couldn't find matching GLX visual).

its probably something to do with my savage graphics card, but i finally got dri enabled.

thanks.

It seems that you don't have properly configured GLX extension.
Check if you can run glxgears - if it fails too it means that you problems are in your configs and not in warzone.

The solution is listed at happypenguin.org btw.

Here is what you have to do. move the binary into the same folder as the data, ie the data folder and then run the game from there. it'll find everything it needs then and you can start playing.

I installed WarZone2100 with emerge and have this problem.

Warning: Using colour depth of 32 instead of 24.
ErrorBox: Couldn't open palette.bin
ErrorBox: Couldn't load palette data

I know the fix as you pointed out is putting the binary in the data dir but I can't seem to find where the data dir is. I am fairly new to gentoo overall, can anyone tell me where the dir is at?

This is a known bug (as you'd see if you bothered to check bugs.gentoo.org) - basically the current "stable" version of warzone2100 is way out of date and the developers recommend using the current cvs version.

Updated version of warzone in portage, should work.

I'm getting a segmentation fault on AMD64 towards startup. gdb says it's coming from
Code:
0x00002b413c6a8920 in strcmp () from /lib/libc.so.6
