Has anyone been successful in getting gentoo to work on this laptop model? I downloaded the livecd 1.4_rc2 and it won't boot. It freezes at Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel. After looking over the forums, I've tried booting with all the options people have suggested but it still doesn't work.
The 1.2 cd boots just fine so I downloaded the version of the gentoo sources that created that kernel. I compiled it and when I try to boot with that kernel, the same thing happens. I tried the current gentoo, vanilla, and lolo sources and none of them seem to work. I just want to know if anyone has had any success at installing gentoo on this laptop. I don't want to have to switch over to another linux flavor, gentoo is just too awesome.
The specs for the laptop can be found here:

Any help would be appreciated. |

I had some problems with the Satellite 1900-303. I had to turn off SCSI and NIC auto detection.
You can do that at the boot prompt by entering 'gentoo noscsi nonet'.
Hope it helps. |
