try to use :
as root.
This will either help you interactively merge your old config files with the new ones or, if you haven't modified any of your config files personally, you can safely ask etc-update to overwrite your old ones with the new ones.

you need to have gentoolkit installed for to work. i think that is what it is called. it might be installed by default anyway |

hmmm, i got the same error message during the installation process. After the "chroot" command there's that "Illegal Instruction" when i want to use nano. an etc-update replies this:
Quote: |
Scanning Configuration files...
Exiting: No files to work on!
|
but that doesnt solve my problem. btw: the error occurs only after chrooting during a stage2 or a stage3 -installation. nano works fine during stage one.
Perhaps its related to another problem i have:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=36590
would be nice to have nano going, because i'd like to change some things in /etc/make.conf during installation. |
