I've buyed an used laptop and just installed gentoo on it. Next week will I need some way to present different texts on a big screen together with a projector and my laptop in a smooth way. Probably will I be using OpenOffice Impress.

But the problem is:
The order of the texts may change so I can't make one big presentation of them and I don't want to disturb the audience switching to my desktop between every text. Is there some way I can let OpenOffice show the presentation just on the connected projector, while letting me change texts from the LCD-screen on the laptop?

Or is there any other and better solution? OpenOffice is fairly big and as it just are some texts that are going to be displayed, may there maybe be a cleaner and more elegant solution?

Any tips about other programs that may be better for this task is very welcome also.

I don't believe there's any way to switch presentations without taking the one you have up now out of fullscreen. As for OpenOffice being too big, you could always convert the presentations to PDF first and then just have Adobe Reader installed.
