Hi, I've created ebuilds for Subversion 1.2.0, and 1.2.1 that work with stable (amd64) Apache 2.0.x.
But where should I take these stuff for?
Yes, I see Bugzilla, but I'm afraid of rejections because of dependency to the stable Apache2.
There're already ones for unstable ones
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
-t
(edit: Clarified and removed the ? from the title as I put actual ebuilds) _________________ Well, I don't intend my words to be so harsh.

Ha! Great stuff!
That's exactly what I need, because I'm running Subversion 1.2.1 (which currently needs apache-2.0.54-r12) but I also want to run mod_php 4.4.0. Which is blocked if you run > apache-2.0.54-r10. (I need mod_php 4.4.0 because mediawiki 1.4 is incompatible with php5 and mediawiki 1.5 which does support php5 is not stable yet).
I can put this dependency mess as a bug in bugzilla if you want to?
Regards,
Olivier |

Sorry, I have a n00b question.
This is exactly what I'm looking for, but I don't know how to emerge from a free-standing ebuild file. If I try to simply point emerge at it, I get this:
Code: | ariel arist # emerge subversion-1.2.1-r1.ebuild
emerging by path implies --oneshot... adding --oneshot to options.
*** emerging by path is broken and may not always work!!!
Calculating dependencies
*** /home/arist/subversion-1.2.1-r1.ebuild does not exist |
I also tried adding the ebuild to a portage overlay, but had trouble with that as well. Is that the "right way", and I just need to get it working, or am I missing something obvious, that's easier?
Thanks. |

Here's what I get with the 1.2.1-r1 ebuild in my portage overlay, with that specific version unmasked:
Code: | These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] dev-util/subversion-1.2.1-r1 +apache2 -bash-completion -berkdb -emacs -java +nls +perl +python +ssl 0 kB [1]
Total size of downloads: 0 kB
Portage overlays:
[1] /usr/local/portage
Do you want me to merge these packages? [Yes/No] Yes
>>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-util/subversion-1.2.1-r1 to /
* Adjusting permissions on ccache in /var/tmp/ccache
>>> md5 files ;-) subversion-1.2.1-r1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-subversion-1.2.1-r1
>>> md5 src_uri ;-) subversion-1.2.1.tar.bz2
* The apache2 subversion module will be built, and libapr from the
* apache package will be used instead of the included.
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking subversion-1.2.1.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/subversion-1.2.1-r1/work
* Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE! Value for $EPATCH_SOURCE is:
*

* ( subversion-db4.patch )
!!! ERROR: dev-util/subversion-1.2.1-r1 failed.
!!! Function epatch, Line 217, Exitcode 0
!!! Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE!
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message. |
Is there something obvioius I'm doing wrong here? |
