Howl will not emerge

Hello,
This problem has supposedly been fixed, but my machine has yet to understand this! It's a Acer Travelmate 8006lmi running the 2005 version of gentoo, with a genkernel kernel.

When I try to emerge either the 0.9.6 or experimental 0.9.8 version of Howl I get a storage size of edata isn't known error

I have tried every solution on this website. I'm trying to install Gnome, is there anyway around this problem either using a different program, leaving it out etc.

Lots of people seem to have this problem, any chance of a working version of howl, rather than trying to hack it?

PLEASE NOTE, when I say I've tried everything on this forum, I mean it!

emerge glibc - failed
emerge XML-Parser - failed
Using the 0.9.8 version from ~x86 - failed
Altering the eth0 header - failed.
And just about everything else, so much I can't remember fully. Please just don't send a link to a previous comment.

Why don't you post the actual error message, so we can see what is going on. I realize that it appears to be no useful reason for that, but maybe someone will recognize the exact place it is failing, etc. Sorry that I only pasted a link earlier. :-D

I was short on time and figured it was better then nothing. Lets see if I can be more helpful this time.
