Hi,
Just wanted to tell you all something about my current problem.
I have just been trying to get ACPI to work, and was looking in /proc for info. The output of /proc/acpi/processor/0/info was "<TBD>" so I decided to update my BIOS.
So, I've upgrade my BIOS to 1016 (It's a ASUS A7V333 motherboard, which previously had the 1011 BIOS), rebooted, X came up, then hung. Tried a couple of times, but every time I got to X, I could log in, but then it would die on the 3rd icon in KDE.
Tried a recompile of the BIOS with the VIA chipset fixes, still the same problem.
After taking off the options I set in the BIOS so it was back to the original state it was in, I took out the followin line in my /etc/modules.d/nvidia file:
options NVdriver NVreg_EnableAGPSBA=1 NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1
It seems my machine can no longer allow these to be present.
I looked in /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card and it said that Fast Writes was allowed, but it hung again when I tried this (My graphics card is a GeForce 2 GTS).
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks,
Luke. |

Fast Writes and Sideband Addressing have both been known to cause stability problems with very little benefit. You wont be able to tell the difference with or without those 'features' enabled, so just turn them off and save yourself the headache. _________________ --
