|
|
I have been using Gentoo satisfactorily for 4 years now with a very stable desktop. So I needed emacs and did and that was the end of my desktop! Since then I have recompiled the kernel (several versions), nvidia (several versions), xorg, tool chain, all of system, fiddled with XF86Config and anything else I could think of without regaining my desktop. All it says is | Quote: | | (EE) No devices detected |
This sort of thing makes Linux non-viable for the desktop. People simply aren't going to spend hours and hours rebuilding their machines every time they need to add a little software.

I am sure the issue can be resolved. Please post Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf to see if there is any more information that me be of help in determining the problem.
My intuition is saying that you need to change location of the mouse device from /dev/mouse /dev/input/mice but that may very well be wrong. |

Probably the BusID in /etc/X11/xorg.conf needs to be changed... _________________ rm -rf / |
