Hi.

I seem to have a issue with openoffice and animations.

When i create impress files with animations like "fly in" then they get black or white background (where it should be transparent)
more info and bug report here: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=50731

Could you please try to replicate the issue ? I hope it's not just my installation.

if you cant replicate the issue, please post your emerge info.

EDIT: This issue has a solution, scoll down to se it.

I tried a few fly-in samples in a new presentation using openoffice-bin 1.9.109. Same results as you have experienced, black background for the text until in reached it's 'destination', where the background became transparent again. This was also true when using the your file available from the link above.

For whats it's worth, I can confirm the error.

Thanks !

Would you be so kind to write it in the bug on openoffice.org ?
The funny thing is that the bug is not present in the windows version (1.9.113).

If they fix the bug, then i no longer have to use windows in vmware just to use openoffice :)

thanks again.

I just saw your emerge info. - it seems like we have nearly the same computers and setup. AMD64 gentoo xlibs may be the problem.

Openoffice is 32bit and use the emulated X libs such as emul-linux-x86-xlibs. i'll bet that the problem would dissapear if i run openoffice in a 32bit chroot.

Thanks for the testing. but even if i change to xorg-x11 glx and nv driver i still have the same error, but minimized.
Most of the animations works perfect now, but animations like "Wheel" still have some black at the start of the animation.

Same thing with all applications under wine/cedega/crossover .. Backgrounds that should be transparent are black ... This behavior was introduced for me right after updating from xorg-x11-6.8.2-r1 to 6.8.2-r2 ... And it's still the same with 6.8.99.14.

I'll try to emerge xorg 6.8.2 and see if the problem persist.

I also have this behaviour in cedega and crossover.. though I always thought that it was a Windows/Linux graphical error. I have been using crossover some time for my online banking services, but I have had the black transparencies as long as I can remember, even before xorg-x11-6.8.2. IE6 screenshot (black icons in the corners and on main icons in menubar. Also white background in "back button" and the "Go button/arrow" besides the Address list)

I changed back to xorg-x11 6.8.2-r1 and the problem is solved.

I no longer have black backgounds on images, text, animations or other.
i tested with xorg nv driver and nvidia's own driver - and both works perfect.

It must be a patch in xorg-x11 6.8.2-r2 and after that bugs.

I can confirm the behaviour on 32 bit, both with the nv as well as the nvidia driver for the black background in i.e. the question dialogs.

Using xorg-x11-6.8.99.14.

I think you'd be best off filling in a bug report on gentoo bugzilla, I don't really think it's Oo's fault.

Its not openoffice or gentoo's fault, its xorg's fault.

One of their patches screw up openoffice and other applications transparency in some cases.
I have no idea how to report a bug to xorg. i'm not to familiar with bugreports.
