It's trying to use the Glide driver for graphics. (Only for old Voodoo based video cards)
I haven't player the original unreal tournament in a long time, but you need to edit either the system unreal tournament settings file or the user unreal tournament settings file and change the driver to SDL.
The file will be in /opt/unreal-tournament/System and ends with .ini (eg Unrealtournament.ini)
Once you edit this file you have to remove the user preferences so a new one is generated.
Check your home directory for .loki/ut or a similar hidden ut folder. |

ok, thanks for that.
odysseus System # cat UnrealTournament.ini | grep -i glide
GameRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
RenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
[GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice]
Should I change all those to SDL ? Also would it be SDLDrv or something else?
I will have a google now I have somewhere to start from, thanks |

You change these lines:
For SDL: Code: | [Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=SDLDrv.SDLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=SDLLDrv.SDLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=SDLDrv.SDLRenderDevice |

ok, I found a post on an unreal tournament forum where it said I can use opengl there aswell, is that different from SDL?
Quote: | This is the diferente engines we can use in ut according to our gfx card to change in UnrealTournament.ini :
For the SDLGL renderer:
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=SDLGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.SDLGLRenderDevice
For the OpenGL renderer:
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
For the Glide renderer (Voodoo 1/2/3 cards in XFree86 3):
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
RenderDevice=GlideDrv.GlideRenderDevice
For the Software renderer:
[Engine.Engine]
GameRenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice
WindowedRenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice
RenderDevice=SDLSoftDrv.SDLSoftwareRenderDevice |
Does it matter which I use?
Thanks |

You can use SDL or OpenGL. If you have the right OpenGL driver (don't kow if portage version 436 has it) you can enabled use of the second CD which had compressed textures and provided better quality. (Only worked on some video cards also) |
