hi, im just in middle of installation of gentoo( i just bought amd64 so im installing gentoo64 :D_
and i just thought small suggestions of "emerge".

1, when emerge fails to compare MD5SUM, how about making emerge to remove that distfiles file, and download again. so you dont need to wake up seeing "MD5 check error"

2, could make --quit option to hide all compile status(with all that compiling thingy that shows up)except errors and last line of error. this could make compile really boost.

it just boring thoughts, but its welcome to ignore this...

/me bored waiting emerge -e system to finish :)

1. If the file is somehow modified you should pay attention. Not only for security. So stopping the installation is the best way to make you do so.

2. The word is spelled "quiet".
Add -s to you MAKEOPTS!
