|
|
Just curious if anyone else has seen the following or something similar:
.
.
media-libs/
media-plugins/
media-sound/
io timeout after 60 seconds - exiting
rsync error: timeout in data send/receive (code 30) at io.c(103)
media-video/
media-video/alevt/files/
.
.
x11-wm/
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (844196 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
>>> Starting retry 1 of 3
Not really a problem for me as it will re-sync with another site and complete the update without any intervention on my part. Just curious as this behavior seems to have just started recently. It happens about 1/2 the time.
BTW I've got rsync-2.5.6_pre20021105 and portage-2.0.46-r12 installed. |

Yes, I do have the same problem as you.
It looks that it has something to do with portage-2.0.46-r12. I'm running this version on my server, and I can't do an emerge sync overthere since this morning. On my laptop, I'm running version portage-2.0.46-r9 and I don't have any problems with it.
In my opinion, it can't be a bandwith problem, because I have tried it on the server, when this one fails, I gave it a try on my laptop, and there wasn't a problem at all. Back to my server, but again it fails.
I've tried it every hour today (and it's 17PM now), but still with no luck!
Anybody?? |

Well I've tried with several mirrors, no success. All I get is
Code: |
>>> starting rsync with rsync://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo-portage...
|
And it gets stuck there. I'll try to upgrade rsync package or maybe downgrade portage later today, maybe it helps. Mirrors I've tried are up so that's not the problem. _________________ There's someone watching me. I can tell. |

It seems that they solved the problem. An 'emerge sync' is working again |

Oops.... I celebrated it to early! It hangs again....
Code: |
io timeout after 60 seconds - exiting
rsync error: timeout in data send/receive (code 30) at io.c(103)
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (845654 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)

Dang. I'm ashamed to admit this but all the time the problem for me at least was my brand new iptables firewall configuration.. I forgot to allow port 873 for rsync
Man do I feel stupid now _________________ There's someone watching me. I can tell. |

But it's not only a firewall problem. I haven't changed my firewall at all, but do also have this problem.
I've checked my firewall log, but can't find any blocked port for rsync or whatever. |

Obviously it's not, although seems only few people have this problem. For me it's working fine now, haven't got any errors and I've been syncing quite a few times just to test it now. Installed versions are: net-misc/rsync-2.5.6 and sys-apps/portage-2.0.46-r12 and in make make.conf I have SYNC="rsync://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo-portage" _________________ There's someone watching me.
