I run two gentoo systems; both are configured the same except for hardware configs. I often use one to debug problems with the other. I ran into this problem recently:
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Source unpacked.
i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory
This happens to every package i try to emerge. I have changed no configurations. As far as i can tell, this happened after a recent upgrade to gcc 3.4.4; i've tried changed to an older gcc version, but that doesn't help.
What files do I need to post to help diagnose this problem? I am mystified why this happened.

you probably updated binutils? run binutils-config -l and choose your newer version. If that ain't it, perhaps you need to run gcc-config -l. If that ain't it come on back. _________________ --You talk the talk, but do you waddle the waddle?
