Gentoo founder and former Gentoo Chief Architect Daniel Robbins began a new position at Microsoft on 23 May 2005. According to drobbins: "I'm helping Microsoft to understand Open Source and community-based projects." While in the midst of hastily packing to move to Redmond, drobbins nonetheless managed to find the time to finalize the transfer of Gentoo's intellectual property (essentially copyrights on ebuilds and other software as well as soon-to-be trademarked Gentoo logos) to the not-for-profit Gentoo Foundation, Inc. |

Well I've heard Gentoo put him in debt somwhere to the tune of $40,000 so if M$ is willing to give him teh $$ then sure, why wouldn't he go work for them? The thing that worries me more is M$'s suden interest in open source technology, I think they realise that OS is moving at a much faster pace than they are and want to find a way to capitalize on it. _________________ Occupation: Professional Slacker

<Stupid FUD>
OMG, Microsoft probably signed him on so that they (through his tenure) can claim patentship to Portage, rendering Gentoo illegal to use. The end is nigh.

That's where it went to, I was looking for that.
As this is not April 1st, I will never trust Gentoo front page news again |

I tried that when I was there, and got "I don't what to know what linux is, I don't want to see it, I don't want anyone to know I said the word"

And of all places...
Too bad he didn't find a different employer with his qualifications...
We all know how MS is working when it comes to "information" about Linux. Will drobbins now become an anti-linux drone? Why? Why not? _________________ 'Yes, Firefox is indeed greater than women. Can women block pops up for you? No. Can Firefox show you naked women? Yes.' |

Blah. DRobbins (and a lot other devs) gave us Gentoo. We can only be grateful for that.
Besides, he might succed in subversing Bill into supporting Open Source. Become some kind of personal guru to Gates; remove the bad mojo-influence "da evil monkeyboy Ballmer" holds over him and make Billyboy see the errors of his monopolistic ways.
Together they could do anything. Legal hack (thank G-d for the fine print in the XP EULAS) the Bush twins personal porn folders, expose their hypocritical and depraved sexual deviant experiments with several black nubian gods, publish the electronic correspondance with the abortion clinics, thereby making the house of Bush fall like a deck of cards. _________________ Science is 10% new data and 90% confirmation!
