Works just fine here on 4.3.2. Installed by simply running cedega setup.exe.
The only problem I had was solved by disabling shaders in config:
Code:

;; Gta San Andreas
[AppDefaults\\gta_sa.exe\\d3dgl]
"VertexShaders" = "N"
"PixelShaders" = "N"

Not your case actually, but if someone have problem with unanimated models and not textured objects, it will help.
This game rocks!

Btw...

Maybe you should try running sa with better video card.

I can't even see the menu. After moving the movies to another temp folder I enter directly to the menu. I can hear the music and the buttons highlighting when moving the cursors but nothing more. The screen is pitch black. I think I pressed one of them which led to a crash...

I'm using Point2play and Cedega 4.3.2. I have tried the standard config and a more tweaked one like for ex shaders disabled. Unfortunately I have an ATI card (x850xt) but all Valve games work fine like hl2, so there must be something I do wrong. And yes I have followed the advices in the Transgaming thread like using the NOCD crack without any avail.

edit

Crap. Just saw this under the GTA vice city part of the Transgaming Wiki:

Quote:

This title currently does not work on systems with an ATI card.

Could be the same case with San Andreas  .

Well after 3 hours finally got it working on cedega
had to turn off shaders, it went too slow
it still goes very very slow... so had to go 640x480/low.. on windows i could run it fast on 800x600/high
also, during playing.. when passing cars sometimes polygons show up randomly.. not that too often
so anyone know how to get faster gameplay?

Works perfectly for me. I just installed Cedega 3.4.2, mounted my windows partition and wrote cedega gta_sa.exe in console.

It is only two things that is a bit annoying; first it crashes if I try to navigate into Display settings and I can't save. This forces me to play with default display settings. Even though the graphic isn't perfect it runs really smooth, and my computer has no trouble handling it. The "saving" problem occurs in Windows too, so it is not specific Linux problem.

Im running Gentoo 2005.0 on a 2x1700+ JIUHB @ 2x1875MHz(12.5x150), MSI K7D Master-L, 512MB ram and Gainward Geforce4 ti4200 GS AGP 8x @ 290/600

check maybe ur folder with saves is readonly or something..
PS: with shaders on, it looks good, but goes like 5fps

Hmm, i cant get the game to start at all.

I do "cedega gta_sa.exe" and get a popup box saying:

"Grand Theft Auto SA cannot find audio card installed"

This is odd because my current cedega games, KOTOR and steam work fine with audio. The exe is a nocd crack i got off gamecopyworld since i heard its required for the game to run. Anyone any ideas?

crashes for me after "fading in", if I load a savegame I can run around for maybe 0.5 seconds before it crashes (when it's done fading), and the intro will crash while fading too.

Seems everyone is having different problems with this one ;)

If your having problems starting it try to run with -debugmsg +file and see if it's finding your audio and such.

Thats the output from running it in debug mode.

I'm not certain, but this seems to be causing the problem:

Quote:

trace:file:CreateFileA C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ole32.dll GENERIC_READ FILE_SHARE_READ OPEN_EXISTING

warn:file:CreateFileA Unable to get full filename from 'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\wineoss.drv' (GLE 2)
err:wave:OSS_WaveOutInit OpenDevice failed (1)

Now none of these files (ie. ole32.dll, rpcrt4.dll or wineoss.drv) reside in my ~\.transgaming\c_drive\windows\system32 directory. Any ideas why that is? Do i need to move these files here? Should they be there already? Like I said before my other games play fine with audio using cedega so its kind of odd why this happens.

Hmm this is unusal because i dont use any audio mixers except for dmix (ie. a ~/.asoundrc file). I dont have arts or esd or anything like that installed. Can gta sa be run using dmix? Or do I have to remove my asoundrc file and restart alsa just for audio?

change your wine/cedega conf to use the alsa driver instead of oss (or the other way around)

Hmm, still the same problem.

I have OSS emulation and all that setup and use the OSS driver with cedega because the alsa one gives me no sound for any game. Oh well, not sure what to do now then :(

I have the exact same problem so while it sucks to know it happens I'm glad I am not the only one.

i can go in advanced display settings, but have to set to 640x480/16bit low effects, half draw distance, and i have to turn vertexshaders off in config of transgaming or it goes way too slow.. the graphics rnt that good that it wouldnt go on geforce 2 (vice city and gta 3 went really fast on high settings under cedega even).. and san andreas went pretty fast in windows

http://hollowtube.mine.nu/releases/config

menu works, game doesn't.

nvidia 6800gt, 64bit, cedega 4.3.2

note that the gta specific settings arn't because I found they worked, it was because someone told me to try em ;), and I had to use a crack to get into the game at all.

Make sure the game installs completely.. cause i installed it in one folder (it did in windows folder for some reason), moved all files, but the game didnt run. So i installed it as root cause root could install it in right folder and then copied that folder. So make sure you dont see any problems with installation like game going into the wrong folder.

If you have alsa, i recommend using winealsa.drv.. just a hint.

Got my menu working. To do that I deleted the gta_sa.set file (this is the file where your configuration is stored). Seems the one I had copied over to windows it didn't like, I believe because it had AA turned on and for some reason it won't let you turn it on in the game settings.

I "installed" the game by copying the windows files over so I know that all works. I still haven't got the game to actually play at anything above the default setting, so now that is what I am working on.

Also running latest Cedega, and on the 2.6.11-r6 kernel

Hmm i guess this is a little confusing.. i'm using alsa sound built into the kernel, not sure if i need it was a module with oss as a module as well? hmmmm How did everyone else here get it working.. I was able to go through the entire cedega setup process and it installed everything good... unforuntally i don't have a windows disk to install it though first..

=============================================================================
Update:

Got it working, guess i needed the cd .. hehe
