Даже с двумя языками в UTF-8 легко получить кучу преимуществ :) Скажем, ни в одной однобайтовой кодировке с русским нет одновременно литературных кавычек и псевдографики :) А если ещё греческих буковок захочется, чтобы в формуле указать? :)
