My Toshiba Tecra, 400MHz (P2) REFUSES to boot as 400MHz, Its entierly random!
Sometimes its 100MHz, sometimes 320, or 210.
I cant get into BIOS on it, since i dont know the passwd (NOT a BIOS passwd, some special toshiba-shit-passwd-before-bios-thing)..
I tried some Intel program for setting the correct cpuspeed from their site, but the P2 wasnt supported.
I could try letting it stand without RAM and battery for 5-6 hrs, but.. no
It all started when yesterday, when i reinstalled gentoo and did some special thosiba diags from their 'Companion diskette'.
Edit: Could it be the kernel? _________________ ^L |

What frequency does it display on POST?
When the machine spits out all its info before the bootloader is run, if this is 400 then you have a Linux software problem, if this is what varies then you have a hardware issue |

Can't you press TAB to view the post data?
Or isnt it displayed in a table just before grub/lilo starts? |

Use wolk-sources, they have the cpufreq patch and you can change dinamically it. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |
