The filenames for config files that need updating start with ._ not just .
Code:
find /etc -iname '._*'

should do the trick.

Check the Multimedia forum for the xmms problem (or possibly xmms threads in this forum).

As for the config files, you can see GF2: xx config files need updating.

Otherwise, you can run etc-update.

So the ._cfg are supplied with arguments to use and my old .conf files are not up to date anymore. Did I get it right!
When I compare the old and the ._cfg files they are the same. Atleas in most cases.
This could be because I hadd emerge updating my conf files ruthlessly for a while.
But if it messes with my make.conf i dont like it.
This system is so diffrent form the one I used earlier(Slackware) so thats why im asking stupid questions here.
But the good thing is noone has to answer :)

Tnx again :)
