I van gimp 2.0 and a scanner working with xsane. Now I would like to scan an image straight from Gimp. I read that it is possible but I mis the option scanner in my aquire menu. I tried to solve it by restarting gimp with the pluginrc file removed with no result. How can I solve this problem?

Do you have "scanner" in your use flags?

I'm not sure if that would do it, but it would be a good place to start looking.

I just updated to the latest version of GIMP and I have the same problem. And yes, 'scanner' is in my use flags.

xscan seems to work fine so long as the user is in the scanner group.

gpasswd -a username scanner

[ebuild R ] media-gfx/gimp-2.2.6-r1 -aalib (-altivec) -debug -doc -gimpprint +gtkhtml +jpeg +mmx -mng +png +python +sse -svg +tiff +wmf
[ebuild R ] media-gfx/xsane-0.96-r1 +gtk2 +jpeg +nls +png +tiff 0 kB
[ebuild R ] media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.15 +gphoto2 -ipv6 +usb 0 kB

I noticed that the interface is a little different from the last version I was using. When I go to File > Acquire there is no scanner option! Que Lastima!

If anyone has a clue, don't keep it to yourself. Thanks.

Googled and found some more info here:

The solution is quite simple:
Code:
emerge xsane sane-backend sane-frontends && emerge gimp
and
ln -s /usr/bin/xscanimage /usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/
