Hi all Forum.
While recompiling my Kernel , wanted to try out CK-Sources on my Ibook, i discovered that i'm not able anymore to compile my kernel ...
I've tried a lot of different version and patches ... all with the same result :

It's really strange since i last compiled a Kernel on last week ... and i don't really know what could be happened to broke so , even more that i compile (as all of us;) ) everyday without problems ...
does anyone has hints ?

I get this too, on vanilla-sources...
Today's ~PPC emerge also updated binutils, which includes the assembler:
what version of binutils are you using?
I updated to binutils-2.16.90.0.2 and the ERROR WENT AWAY. |

Yes, Binutils was the problem
i downgraded to my previous one and now everything is fine, so it seems that this versione of binutils has some problems with PPC ... would be interesting knowing if it is also a problem regarding the other platforms.

There was a miscommunication and the wrong version of binutils was keyworded ppc, which is what was causing the problem. If you emerge sync, binutils will downgrade to the correct version.

No problem u know, i've got the good habit to make a quickpkg of what is important before upgradind
