Can someone else try this for me? I was finally able to get skunk-sources working, and found a major issue.

(Skunk) Nicksched+genetic anticipatory: When copying files from one drive to the other 20GB+ of data, my whole computer slows to a crawl as my cpu maxes out at 100%.

(Different Kernel) Staircase+CFQ-TS: While moving 20GB+ data, no lag, able to surf web, and listen to music. Actually quicker in moving the files.

(2.6.12-rc4 Love) IngoSched+CFQ-TS: While moving 20GB+ data, no lag, able to surf web, and listen to music.

Tried this on 4 different computers, same results. AthlonXP, Pentium4, Pentium3, Pentium2.

Similar issue here.
Two linux box in lan, using ftp, where
1) laptop - client - skunk3(nicksched + genetic);
2) pc - server - 2.6.10-from_debian_repos;

When I try to transfer 800+ MB (thousand of files) from 2) towards 1), I see that ram and swap were filled and then, system execute oom-killer ( 512 mb ram, 330 mb swap), trashing after several minutes.

Latest version of love-source I've tried (2.6.12-rc2-love1) using nicksched and genetic, doesn't show this behaviour.

Seems plugsched wasn's such a good idea after all. Staircase is a very good scheduler and is in constant update and maintenance by Con. And it is stable (haven't had a problem 2 months now :) )

Just a nitpicky thing I found in the config:

When selecting the default cpufreq governor, only performance and userspace are in the selection dialog. 'ondemand' is not available.

FWIW, I just put skunk3 on my laptop with a P4M processor, works perfectly with acpi and cpufreq. (intel P4 modulation + acpi p-states)

ondemand can't be default governor because if it fails to initialise the system won't boot. Check the lkml archives and you'll see many people have tried to push a patch for this and it has been turned down.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Anyway, I just added
Code:
cpufreq-set -g ondemand

to my local.start. Problem solved :D

I got plenty of webspace on impurity.org and I dont have to deal with bandwidth caps. So if you are interested send me a pm or look for Stalyn@Efnet.

Wow, that's alot of packages to list, why don't you just state that it is 2.6.12-rc4-mm and then list what you added other than -mm patches...
