Cedega/Point2Play has never given me serious problems. I've had a handful of titles (including WoW) running under it with minimal effort on my part. Worst issue is when I forget to set P2P to "ALSA" from "OSS". Some games don't like not finding audio and throw big fits about it. |

Unreal Gold worked like a charm. Half-Life 1 had issues with sound but I might try again with a newer version of cedega. _________________ Gentoo: Gigabyte: nFORCE 2: nVIDIA GeForce 6600: AMD Athlon XP 3200+

No, sometimes it works, sometimes it just crashes the game (e.g. Kotor 1). _________________ Der Mensch kämpft um zu überleben, und nicht, um zu Grunde zu gehen. - Paulo Coelho

I get copy protection errors with nearly every game I have that works in cedega for some reason. So I haven't really had a chance to see what it's like properly. The one or two games that do run work great. |

Hey, did you try changing wineoss.drv to winealsa.drv in the cedega config? That worked for me for HL & various mods |

Steam installed just fine, and I can play. FPS is a bit sucky compared with Windows. Also sound doesn't work. |

I tried cedage for some direct3d games (that what its for) but none of them worked (bf1942/dungeon keeper2 etc) or they were very slow and unstable and thus unplayable (hl2/nfs:u)
The only game that actually worked was max payne 2 and to some extend gta3
All my windows opengl games work fine in wine already (and the ones that dont work with wine also wont work with cedaga) and some direct3d games (max payne) also
so its pretty useless, even more so because you have to pay for it.. _________________ In "old" Europe we already have a word for "pre-emptive strikes" mr Bush: its called "war" |

Proof that native games are needed.
FULL DISCLOSURE: Never owned or tried cedega. Tried wine many a moon ago. I want to play my games, not troubleshoot them. |

Cedega runs good for me, origanal carmageddon was easier to install with point2play then it was on windows2000 =)
Half-Life 2 is quite playable with the latest cedega and ati updates but only has directx8 gfx, counter-strike 1.6 is almost at the same performance as windows. _________________ Desktop PC: AthlonXP 2700+, 1024meg DDR400, 9600xt 256meg, 8.26.18 ati drivers, nForce2, 2.6.16-gentoo-r7

It is pretty much (for me anyway) good for steam. Everything else I have ever installed under cedega just simply does not work. I've had better luck with the newer version of wine.
But if all your gonna use is steam. go ahead and pay for it _________________ The strength of the pack is the Wolf,

I didn't have problems until I recently upgraded to gentoo-sources-2.6.11, now I get copy protection errors. _________________ ---Powered by Honda |

Works but cs:s is much slower than in windows, especially when the action hots up it is not really playable imo (drops to <10fps while windows holds it above 70 always). I agree with gcasillo...native games are needed. |

Yes, but I didn't get expected performanjce until I manually set my VRAM to 128MB instead of 32MB in the config file. _________________ Gentoo: Stage3 w/ NPTL & udev, gcc 3.4.4 full rebuild

When I got a game to work I did not have any performance problems at all. Actually I believe my performance was better with wine/cedega than windows but this might be because I am using a dual processor rig with 2 GB of memory... _________________ John
