X issues when no internet

Lately I have had issues were my cable modem has sync but I cannot surf. These were network issues. My question is when this happens X does not start up ever. Any ideas on why this is and how to fix this?

Add an /etc/hosts entry mapping your IP address to your full hostname (including the domain name) and most issues will disappear.
