|
|
I just built a new athalon 64 2800+ system and everything seems to be working fine except for one thing... it compiles slower than a friggin comodor64 lol.... maybe not, but its slow.
Anyway, I have a pentium 4 2.6c box that compiles atleast 5 times faster, but otherwise seems to run a bit slower, I don't know what the deal here is. Roughly 10 hours ago I started to compile kde 3.3.4....... 64 packages, it is on package 3 .... my pentium box would have finished compiling kde at least a couple hours ago and at this rate, it'll be compiling for days.
the strange thing here is that aside from compiling, it outperforms my pentium 4, I haven't benchmarked it, but everything seems faster and smoother.
any help to speed up my compile times would be much appreciated

Can you post your /etc/make.conf? It shouldn't take that long on an AMD64...

ok, i killed the emerge kde but...... it appears it only compiles so slow for qt-3.3.4, everything else seems to compile fine, so i'm going to try kde 4 instead of 3.3.4 _________________ MSI 865PE Neo2 FISR, p4 2.6c, nv 5600
