Description: KDE libraries needed by all kde programs |
But still: Code: | bash-2.05b$ emerge -u -p --deep world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies ...done! |
The really odd thing is, I just did and it properly updated to 3.1_rc6.
I discovered this while trying to install 'sim' for my ICQ client. I couldn't install it, and kept getting some kde library routine missing. Once I checked all my installed KDE stuff, I saw that kdelibs wasn't up to date.
Any idea what caused that?

It is not really a problem. When you installed kde, portage added kde to world but not its dependencies. So kdelibs is not in world. |

I thought --deep was supposed to overcome this situation, though. If not, what exactly does --deep get me?

Me too...four times now...doesn't bode well for trying to use it in production environment(s)
I've got a minimalist server build down pretty well (base, apache, php, perl, ssl, mysql/postgres) but try to go much beyond that (especially into X/Gnome/KDE-land) and you get scerwed pretty quickly. In that regard, gentoo doesn't fare much better than any other linux distro _________________ John-David Childs (JC612) Enterprise Internet Solutions
