could you make an icon for evolution?
these icons do not seem to be idesk friendly. well, idesk likes the phoenix icon, but it segfaults when using the gaim, xchat or term icons. any ideas? seems to be an idesk problem. hmm.... |

they are all working for me.. which version of idesk are you using.. i am using
Code: |
* x11-misc/idesk
Latest version available: 0.3.5-r1
Latest version installed: 0.3.5
Homepage: http://linuxhelp.hn.org/idesk.php
Description: Utility to place icons on the root window
|
here is a screenshot of them working: http://kajigger.cjb.net/desktop.png _________________ "That which is overdesigned, too highly

it segfault for me to, exactly like atom says. And it segfaults with icons that I made.
Idesk segfaults with the following icons : xchat-l33t.png, gimp-l33t.png, xmms-l33t.png, mplayer2-l33t.png, gaim-l33t.png and my own quake3-icon.png
But with phoenix it works...
I'm using fluxbox (0.1.14-r1) and idesk (0.3.5-r1)...
So I think maybe it's a problem with the .png format and an option when I save the icon in The Gimp or maybe a problem with idesk, I will try the patch available on http://linuxhelp.hn.org/idesk.php. If somebody have an idea.

Cool!
Now I think is a good time to put forward an idea I have...
Basicly I thought about there being a group of people who love to make desktops look nice, wallpapers, icons , themes and what not.. but they would expand on these basic things and focus on making Gentoo look nice, for example a hacked up gdm with extra features, an app for setting boot logos and lots of other ideas!
I propose the name "The Gentoo Environment Agency" a kinda pun in there aswell
I'm still learning C and C++ and this would be a great way for me and others to improve thier skills.
Whats everyone think???? | count me in. _________________ NoManNoProblem

Idesk 0.3.5 already has that patch applied, so you don't need it. |

Yes, I have seen that after... but for the moment I don't have found why idesk seg fault with some icons and not with the other.
I really think that it's a problem with the icons, because if I use this set of icons ( http://themes.freshmeat.net/projects/marblessolid/?topic_id=976%2C57 ) I don't have seg fault, like we can see on this screenshot :
http://membres.lycos.fr/zeduf/test3.jpg
Maybe a problem with the transparent background color... but this is not a problem with the iconset "Marbles, Translucent Edition" which I've successfuly tried. |

Thanks for the information port001, maybe some of us are no lucky, but the first time (in your first thread) you have create different icons (xchat.png and xchat-l33t.png) and at any time the *-l33t.png have worked for me, so maybe there is something about the icons....
Atom : I'm very interesting if rebuilding libpng and idesk can change something, for the moment I d'ont have the time to test myself (not really me, but my computer... ), maybe tomorrow !

yeah, iDesk segfaults for me on some icons, it seems to have trouble with anything over a certain dimension (e.g. 64x64). Thus I can't use these icons without rescaling. I thought it was something todo with the format, but when I downsized the penguin icon (on the left), it was fine.
/me goes off to update libpng and look thru the idesk code.
update: re-emerging libpng & idesk fixed that problem.
Anyone tried getting idesk 0.5.x going? (it has mild SVG support!)

Very cool, port001.
Couple of requests
A "show desktop" icon and a xawtv (or just any tv-ish) icon. Those would complete my quick launch menu in KDE. Something like the console one, but different enough so that I don't get confused between the two
I tried making my current xawtv icon into one of this style, and just ended up with a bunch of windows in Gimp and a big ole mess |

Hello,
first, thanks for the work, these icons are great.
I would like to substitute my KMenu button with the penguin one from you. Can you give me a hint how to change this button??
Thanks |

I don't know why but idesk seg faults again, I only have emerge OpenOffice-bin (and there is no dependancies for oo). I have tried to re-emerge libpng and idesk but it segfaults always, I think that I'm not a lucky guys...
If I found why this happened, I will tell you !
It's happened when I add some *.lnk without to kill idesk, if I try to reload with double clic on middle button, idesk seg faults. I just need to delete the X and Y lines in the .lnk and after all is ok. So now I will be caution about idesk :p |

here is my contribution.
[img:a1ab699695]http://antonik.mine.nu/images/kword-l33t.png[/img:a1ab699695]
and many more will follow
i was thinking of showing the Layer2s drop shadow. that wa the shaddow wont be visible that much and it looks thiner...
edit: and if one changes the Opacity of the Layer2s outer glow it could make if look good for example when pushed... like when its "normal" have the opacity like now and when pushed increase.. then when holding it down it will look like it thros a shadow.. or the other way around
not it has shadow and when push make it not have shado
could that be done? _________________ NoManNoProblem
