how to only download and later compile

hi I usually just type emerge xxxxx

but this will tell download and compile at the same time..

but I only want to download since is my laptop and I move from a place to another and some times I dont have place to connect...


so is there a parameter for emerge that will only download it and later on .. I can compiled with another parameter with out having to go over the net and look for it thanks!
