Hi,

i need to emerge mod_jk an apache-tomcat-connector.
Unfortunately there is no ebuild in the portage tree and manual compilation failed because it didn't recognize my emerged apache2.
so i downloadet a tgz file that contains a Manifest file, a .ebuild file and some binary and source files.
How can i emerge this/these files ?

Perhaps a stupid question, but i'm new to gentoo and forced to use it.
Unfortunately there's no apt-get ;)

Daniel

Hi,

I have had the same problem because I want to use mod_jk instead of mod_jk2.
It's very esay, just follow this guide :

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing_3rd_Party_Ebuilds

Take care of this :
Quote:
When placing the ebuild in /usr/local/portage you must keep a similar structure to that of /usr/portage ( category/program/program.ebuild )

and don't forget the version number of your ebuild otherwise ebuild can't download the sources.
That's work for me...

Bye.
