|
|
Hi,
I just have time to try out the new 2005.0 today but failed to create software raid devices for my pc.
I create a raidtab:
Code: |
# /boot (RAID 1)
raiddev /dev/md0
raid-level 1
nr-raid-disks 2
chunk-size 64
persistent-superblock 1
device /dev/sda1
raid-disk 0
device /dev/sdb1
raid-disk 1
# / (RAID 1)
raiddev /dev/md2
raid-level 1
nr-raid-disks 2
chunk-size 64
persistent-superblock 1
device /dev/sda3
raid-disk 0
device /dev/sdb3
raid-disk 1
# /home (RAID 0)
raiddev /dev/md3
raid-level 0
nr-raid-disks 2
chunk-size 64
persistent-superblock 1
device /dev/sda4
raid-disk 0
device /dev/sdb4
raid-disk 1
|
and then I did
which create bunches of raid devices in /dev fine
but then when I executed
It returned an error:
Code: | cannot determine md version: 6 |
which is really weird because I did it and it worked like charm with my old 2004.3.
Anyone please help me out!
Thanks for all reply!

Did you load the modules for the raid devices? I think it goes like this, ie:

Using 2004.3 there was no need to mknod. Modprobing the raid modules was enough. But, if they changed that, then using mknod first is neccessary.
Good tip, DntKnwHw, I totally forgot about that. |

Unfortunately it doesn't setup the /dev/md* stuff.
mknod /dev/md0 b 9 0
mknod /dev/md1 b 9 1
mknod /dev/md2 b 9 2
etc...
then raidstart /dev/md0 /dev/md1 /dev/md2 etc
your good to go then. |
