omshell and dhcpd

After searching for omapi and omshell, with no results, I thought I'd ask a possibly simple question.

I use omshell in a couple of php scripts, but I noticied that it is not built when emerging dhcp.

What is the best way to get this to happen, just edit the ebuild? Or is there another way to change the configuration?
