I've seen people complain about things like this, but can't seem to find an answer. Is there any way to get around the following problem:
Package A dependent on library C such that Version(C) >= 0.0 and Version(C) <= 1.0
Package B dependent on library C such that Version(C) >= 0.5
Now version 2.0 of this library comes out:
emerge -u world will upgrade the library to 2.0
immediatly after another emerge -u world will try and downgrade the library again to 1.0. Any way to just tell it to either keep both versions around or simply keep the lower one (since the lower one satisfies both depndencies).
Thanks! (Sorry if this has been answered before) |

Moved from Other Things Gentoo.
I don't know if someone has come out and asked about it in quite that way. Usually, a person is having a problem, and the solution presents the answer. What you are referring to is SLOTs. You can probably find an answer to the question by searching for SLOT. Also, the Portage Manual has some info on it. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
