I wanted to know if anyone else has come accross something similar. I have an Aluminum 15in 1Ghz powerbook and I've sometimes noticed that when I'm emerging a package inside of a terminal in X11 the compiler segfaults. I initially thought this might be due to excessive heat during the compile. I recently did a stage3 install on my laptop and noticed that when I emerged packages the fan would not increase in speed even though the heat did. I recompiled my kernel to include the adt746x module hoping this would fix my problem. Now when I emerge stuff the fan speeds up as the temperature increases but I still encounter segmentation faults when compiling inside of X11 (I then exit X11 and emerge whatever package I wan in the console, and it works). Do you guys know of any suggestions as to what could be causing this? Is it still a problem with heat?
PS - after I get my laptop setup I might switch to using distcc on my desktop to compile stuff for me, but until then any help would be appreciated. |
