|

Hello all,
I'm installing gentoo 2004.3 on SPARC 220R (Ultrasparc III). I followed the gentoo on sparc handbook guide and after I emerge the application that I need, I reboot it. But after several minutes it displayed this error message:
Rebooting with command: boot
Boot device:/pci@8,600000/SUNW,q1c@4/fp@0,0/disk@ (blabla) File and args:
SILO version 1.4.8
boot:
Allocated 8 Megs of memory at 0x40000000 for kernel
Loaded kernel version 2.4.27
Remapping the kernel... done
No serial devices found, bailing out.
Program terminated
ok
and after that it constantly displaying this message:
WARNING: PS1 is present but not OK
I wonder what's wrong with this? Please help me
FYI, the kernel is located on /boot/kernel-2.4.26 on /dev/sda2. I tried to boot it manually on the 'ok' prompt with: boot /boot/kernel-2.4.27 root=/dev/sda2. Then it went to blank screen, and back to the previous message above... (the cdrom didn't want to boot also, thought I had type 'boot cdrom').

Sounds to me like you are missing serial port support and it thinks it should us using serial for input/output. Make sure you have PROM Console enabled.
The power supply message is telling you that you have a failing power supply, and you should replace it. |
