Someone who knows nothing about computers with buy a TCPA computer.
IF TCPA comes it could be the end of Linux  There is a possiblty that a TCPA computer <we don't know yet> will not allow you to install linux. |

nice to have a nice round number
if there is any tcpa hardware developed it will only be allowed to run 'certified' ie microsoft os, linux will not be able ot get certified because of its rate of development (although rh might try to certify RH 10 or so..)

That would mean 99% of all PC-users currently.
Not doing anything is probably the worst thing you can do.

what about the kid that cracked the dvd code? I dunno...give em...oh...a month and someone will be working on linux support
except for...you know...the taking control of the computer part ( I did only read a bit of it so far, back to reading) I'm not saying this is a good thing or anything....but standards seem to be picked up by the developers REAL fast in the open source movement due to its nature |

im doing something by refusing to use the winshit compjuters at school and refuse to use theire products in general.
even that wont affect anything.
you gotta relize that ppl has no power, no matter what you do they still are gonna get away with it. cos in the end they have the money.
and they are not gonna give a fuck about some nerds not using there products make them change thiere mind, if you have a license for winxp or something and give them a call and show them your concern, that will bite more than a petetation.
tell your schoolmates about this, tell them how it sucks and tell them not to buy palladium or any compjuter with a fritx chip in it.
that will make a change.
when the palladium machine gets to the stores and everything then ill do something to show my concern and to show ppl what this is all about, like setting up a barricade or something, for now its just ideas. and one is free to have em even if we all know this is seriuos.
you have already stoped using ms' products so for them you have no vote.
possible for intel. but intel doesnt care as long they get money, and thats what they will do when they sell a "the newset techology, the most secure system to the date, use the force of blablla"-product.
the joe user, as i once was, does not know what one is buying when purchasing a compjuter, i justa cared abut the mhz and gigabyte. this was the time when i just needed a comp to see what it is all about.
i got a crappy intel810 motherboard which totaly sucks, and all the stuff in windoze that i was not aware of that didt let me do what i wanted to do, like cdprotections, i mean what the hell. i fucking copyed my age of empires cd so i whould ware out the original one and it didnt work, damn compjtuer i thought. like this was the compjters fault. and i accepted that. like i accepted all the errors from win98, that was naturall for a compjuter. hell so! when i exploraed it a litlle bit more.
i know most joe users dont care enough how things work and will never find out that tou dont have to acceot crappy error messages and cashes when it suits it.

It's true joe user won't initially be bothered by TCPA or Uranium (= Palladium, someone once made the clever idea of referring to paladium as uranium, so everyone knows you shouldn't even come near it  ). But when he can't copy cd's any more, can't dld his favorite mp3 from kazaa or so, he will turn to to his local IT consultanr (read the guy nextdoor who knows something about "computers and stuff). He'll tell it's unbeatable (or easaly crackable, if this is the case their's no problem) and joe user will be fucking pissed off. And even a comany like m$ or intel can't afford to have all joe users being pissed off. Result : TCPA and uranium down the drain. |
