I set up my 90MHz pentium with gentoo to use as a firewall. I set up some rules and it all works great. but, I've been getting strange messages in /var/log/kern.log. they repeat about every 30 seconds or so. here's what they look like:

Code:

Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT ip_conntrack_core.c:94 &ip_conntrack_lock readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT: ip_nat_core.c:839 &ip_conntrack_lock not readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT ip_conntrack_core.c:94 &ip_conntrack_lock readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT: ip_nat_core.c:839 &ip_conntrack_lock not readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT ip_conntrack_core.c:94 &ip_conntrack_lock readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT: ip_nat_core.c:839 &ip_conntrack_lock not readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT ip_conntrack_core.c:94 &ip_conntrack_lock readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT: ip_nat_core.c:839 &ip_conntrack_lock not readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT ip_conntrack_core.c:94 &ip_conntrack_lock readlocked
Jan 18 23:38:31 entropy ASSERT: ip_nat_core.c:839 &ip_conntrack_lock not readlocked

since everything seems to work, I guess I would just like to turn off these messages. short of hacking the kernel (commenting out the asserts!) how can I do that? does anyone know what these asserts are for?

I'm not sure I know the answer, but mine doesn't do this any more.

I'm running the vanilla-sources-2.4.20 now, and net-firewall/iptables-1.2.8-r1
