gtkam doesn't work

gtkam doesn't work with my canon a75. When I tell it to autodetect the camera, it says it can't find the camera. When I manually set it to a75, both regylar, and ptp, it says it says I need to set the port, which is grayed. It worked perfectly when I used the 32-bit version of gentoo. Anybody have any succsess on amd64 using gtkam?

BTW, I tried the camera on 2 diffrent usb ports and wiht 2 diffrent cables.

Tried it with KNOPPIX. It worked. It must be a software issue. And the only thing that has changed is that I replaced my old x86 gentoo install with an amd64 gentoo install. So it must be an amd64 problem.
