| Ok, the only way I know how to fix the fonts is to manually edit the theme config files. Goto /usr/share/gdm/themes/. Go into the directory of the theme you are trying to change, it seems like you are using the gentoo-emergence one. Open the .xml file with you favorite text editior. Search for "font". Just change the name to the font you want to use. I bet the ugly font causing the problem is Sans, so just search for all instances of Sans and replace it with Verdana, Arial, or whatever. |

| I have this sucky font in gdm too, but I noticed it's only since I emerged xft2 (about 2 weeks ago, when it became unmasked). Before that, it was a sweet AA serif font instead (xfree86's standard times font, I think). Sounds like an xft2 problem. Also, the defuault GTK2 font has become horrible too (small, hard to read AA font). |
