From another post I saw that most gentooers have 1.5Mbit internet connection.

Now I am wondering what people around the world pay for their internet.

I pay US$60 per month for 512kpbs and 3 gig download limit :(

Where are you, what type and speed is your net and do you have a download limit ?

E49,95 (that's about the same in US$) for my cable connection.

Down: up to 180kbyte/sec
Up: 20kbyte/sec
Limit: friendly use policy - don't get too much traffic or you'll be warned. If you won't limit it after the warning, you lose your connection. I've had months over 5gigs of traffic and no warnings yet. :)

KiloBytes, yes... Those are the maxes I get. There's nowhere to be found what the official speed in kbit is, but I don't care... :)

I pay 20 GBP a month for my internet and phone service. On the phone side i get a 7940 Series Cisco IP phone, into which i plug my computer and get access to the hall's (I live in student accommodation) leased line.

Transfer rates vary, from 256kbits/s to 4mbits/s.

It's a very sweet setup :D.

I'm currently living at home while I'm in college (rent for apartments is more expensive than house payments around here....) and my dad works for the cable company so we get free broad band as one of his perks :)
Hehehe... Even though we split the connection between us when I've clocked it it usually comes in at 2Mbit/s downstream & i-have-no-clue upstream.

I've seen it go down to just over 1Mbit/s on peak times and peak a little over 3Mbit/s Yay!

Been paying $AU75/month which is I spose is ~ $US40 for:
- At-most 5Mbit download for Australian sites
- At-most 1.5Mbit download for international sites
- 128kbit upload

Until March theres not download limit, but from then on 3GByte/month (I only ever download about 1.5-2GBytes/month)

I pay about £30 a month for ADSL 512k UP and 256k DOWN, no download limit.

the UK sucks big time for broadband :( shitty British Telecom!

I hear that in places like Norway, 4mbit is the standard ADSL and they pay about the same as I pay for my 512k, true?

I pay € 17 for a 768downstream and 128upstream ADSL connection with 5GB limit. Without the limit it would cost €35.

Technically free since my parents pay for it :)
but its $40 Can, which is maybe $25 ish US
ADSL line... 1.5Mbps

the ips are somewhat dynamic, but for my server i usually can get the ip back (instead of chaning my name info and waiting a day) by /etc/init.d/net/eth1 restart untill I get reassigned my old ip. which is usually only a try or 2, and offten I'll still have it after a reboot... I've had the same "dynamic" ip for months :D, not that it would be such a giant hassel to change every now and again either.. still.. its good.

so yeah
2 dynamic ips
5 gig download limit
1 upload limit o_0 <-- (not an official webserver package ) I'm cheating

i pay more then $60 a month. the reason is:
i have 1 ADSL (512kbit/down 128kbit/up)
i have 1 CABLE (512kbit/down 128kbit/up)
and i have 1 SDSL (2.4mbit/up/down)

the SDSL line is very very expensive... but i need it :)

cheers

$23usd/month
1.4M Down, 800kb UP
very good connection quality.
No limits, 5 emails, 2 dynamic IPs.

Probably typical for most Canadians

I pay $40 for 1.5mbit/128kb DSL. No download limits, no restrictions, dynamic IP. I actually only get 768 because I'm so far from the CO (they were surprised I could even get that!).

Obviously Finland isn't included in the figure if most people have 1.5Mbit/s connection (As the original post stated). I have a ADSL with 256kbit/s upload and download speed and I pay 50€ for it plus some extra from static IP and ADSL modem rent.

I am thinking about switching operator so that I would get 512kbit connection with a same price. I would lose the static IP but there wouldn't be that nasty blocking that is stopping me from having a mail server.

Ahh the joys of a certain ISP. :)

I have the same 512kbps and 3 Gig limit.. But I wouldnt consider AU$95 to be US$60 more like US$50 (depending on the exchange rate, today it is 55).
