ok, i've upgraded my portage to the latest release, and I've done an "emerge sync" at least half a dosen times. however, I'm seeing people talking about packages like gentoo-sources-2.4.20 and openoffice-1.0.1-r3, for example. But when I do an "emerge search openoffice" or "emerge search gentoo-sources", I only see openoffice-r1 and gentoo-sources2.4.19-r10 listed. Why can't I see the latest portage packages? Does anyone have any ideas? This is really getting annoying, especially since I would like to be able to emerge openoffice-r4 when it's released since it fixes the g++ path bug in the ebuild. _________________ -Rajl

Maybe because these versions are not in the stable branch, but on the unstable one. _________________ "I'm just very selective about the reality I choose to accept." -- Calvin |

Changing your ACCEPT_KEYWORDS
See in your /etc/make.conf
you can also emerge individual unstable packages by
Code: |
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge package-name
