Same here. Genetic stuff is working fine. No lockups. I have had GAIM segfault repeatedly, but I highly doubt that's a kernel problem. The most punishment I've given the system is 2 emerges at once, so I haven't done any heavy testing, but it seems to be working fine. _________________ Gentoo Stable (some ~x86 in package.keywords)

so i switched to deadline..
WOW
rocksolid!! and much faster than genetic anticipatory, on reiser4 at least

It's working great so far, deadline scheduler and genetic nicksched. Seems to be the fastest kernel I've used so far! I'll let you know if it crashes... |

i fixed this by disabling /proc/mm in the love-sources menu.
anyway, i got atomic kernel panic with this kernel and not the time for now to test the settings, good luck to you. _________________ Too many connections. Please try again later. |

Any 3d apps crash all the time with _any_ kernel I use. I see lots of triangles (ala overheating - but I cooled off my pc last night by leaving it off for a day) - then it freezes. Sometimes hard locks; sometimes soft locks. |

@darkfolk: this sounds like it might be a hardware problem. I know I for one may be quick to cry "hardware problem" but if something overheats once it may never work again. _________________ Gentoo Stable (some ~x86 in package.keywords)

Compiled and booted this kernel fine. However, it seems to have broken my wireless connection (ipw2200). The modules don't load and the wifi device is not recognized. I have reverted back to 2.6.11-rc4love1 and wireless works fine. I seem to remember having the same wireless issues with one of the nitro kernels that had the swspd2 patch as does this kernel. I tried turning off the swspd2, but that does not work. Anyone have any other ideas.
Thx

I`m returned from the Pub at the moment
Will look to the issues tommorow
but I have some patch for somebody who having problems with SMP/HT with Nickshced.
As We talked about , the patch reversing Genetic Nicksched from this release and apply Staircase 10.5 + iso, range, batch policies. also in addition is 2.6.11-bk1 . It was a little tricky but works
2.6.11-love1 Staircase 10.5 iso-range-batch patch.
Code: |
---2.6.11-love1-staircase patch--
(reverse) gen4nicksched-0.01.diff
(reverse) 2.6.11-nicksched.gz
(apply) patch-2.6.11-bk1.bz2
(apply) 2.6.11_to_staircase10.5.diff
(apply) schedbatch2.7.diff
(apply) schediso2.11.diff
(apply) schedrange.diff
|
So , if You have HP/SMT troubles but just will to look and test - patch is here.

If usbhid is built as a module, you should pass "mousepoll=2" to it instead. Either when modprobing/insmodding, or inside your /etc/mod{ules,probe}.conf (possibly by a usbhid file in /etc/modules.d/).
If not, please report back.
Thanks,

i think your ipw2200 problem is related to 2.6.11 specifically because I my room mate has the same prob with a different patchset based on 2.6.11 _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |

i think we should ditch the new mouse poll code and use the old mouse poll code, i liked it better as a Kconfig option instead of a boot option _________________ Do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger. |

OK , I`ll make some update (old version chmp,bk1,fix some error etc. )

IF You mean IO Schedulers then everythings will be all right because You have to use only one at the time.
Is possibility to change io scheduler at the runtime .
Check /usr/src/linux-2.6.11-love1/!!!eXtras_for_You!!!/scheduler_change_script
If You run it : Code: | Defaulting to /dev/hda for block device.
List of available schedulers
The bracketed choice is the one currectly in use.
Selecting this one does nothing.
1 - noop
2 - anticipatory
3 - [deadline]
4 - cfq
Please type the number corresponding the scheduler you wish to use.

People, the *ONLY* thing missing from the new code *IS* the Kconfig option. The boot-, and moduleparameters were there all along, you've just only been using the "static" way to set the polling interval.
Generally, it's seen as unclean to add config options for very very small things (for instance like this one). But, the version I sent the "new" patch in for inclusion, it did indeed have a config option, but I was kindly asked to remove it.
Before this -love release, fallow and I discussed this new version. I told him about the missing config option, and that he would need to add the option to the feature menu, or wherever he wanted, if he wanted it back. He told me that he'd just use the patch as it was.
Now. If anyone is interested, I have re-added the config option, and diffed it against 2.6.11-mm1 (but it should generally apply on everything, since these two things do not change too often):
http://omfg.linux.dk/pub/chmp/archive/usbhid-readd-kconfig.patch
Thanks,
krejler |

small problem with USB storage.
I have a USB stick that works well (custom udev rule for /dev node creation)
I just got a Nikon4100 for me birthday (woohoo) very nice, it has the option of appearing as a USB mass storage (needed for W2K since it doesnt support PTP ???)
I started off by detection to get udev infor for a rule
so plugged it into my hub (with my USB stick) and both somehow got mounted onto /mnt/usbstick !!!! very bad - I couldn't umount since it was getting confused!!!
I had to restart. I only plugged in the camera (ivman mounted to the usbstick!!! against the rule) however, i was able to get the data via udevinfo. I made a rule, all well and good. I went to unmount the camera - all good. I turned off the camera after the umount command gave the all-clear - hard lock-up of system!!
restart - new rule kicks in nicely and nautilus can see it and browse fine. However, when I goto unmount, that works fine, but again a hardlockup when I turn the camera off?
any ideas?
