Hi
I can't boot trying to install the Gentoo system at my laptop (Compaq Presario 700).
It fails when "PCI: Using configuration type 1".
The three last lines it writes is:

and then it just halt's and there's nothing to do, but hold in the powerbutton of my laptop!
Please help
I've tried to use the noapic og acpi=no option booting up the system! |

recompile ur kernel without acpi , use apm instead
after u done emerge apmd , i use it as module , make sure u add it at /etc/modules.autoload
btw. they did a good job with the new 2.4.20-r1 |

Sorry, there may have been a little misunderstanding.
Cause - my problem is to boot with the boot-cd.. I've downloaded the i686 image (and can boot with it on another computer), but my laptop halt's. |

Use the option acpi=off. acpi=no doesn't work.
I have ACPI perfectly working in my Presario 714eu. When i finished the installation I recompiled the kernel using vanilla-sources 2.4.20 and the corresponding ACPI patch. |
